2020 Scholarship Awards
Hester's Abbey Floor Covering announces the awarding of $10,000 in scholarships presented to graduating seniors in St. Johns County. Two scholarships of $5,000 each were awarded to Lauren Sonnier and Michael Guyot. Ms. Sonnier, a 2020 graduate of Creekside High School, plans to attend the University of Central Florida and major in biological engineering or a similar field. Mr. Guyot, who graduated this year from Bartram Trails High School, plans to major in biomedical engineering at the University of Florida. Congratulations to two of our finest high school seniors. We wish them the best of luck toward their careers.
These scholarships are awarded each year to seniors who are going to pursue a degree in the STEM fields: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Past years' scholarship winners have represented almost each of our local high schools, including the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. And our winners have gone on to many different colleges, including UF, FSU, UGA, Notre Dame, MIT, Princeton, Auburn, and Gallaudet. They have made St. Johns County very proud of their achievements.
This a great opportunity for seniors to help defer their college costs while majoring in demanding fields that require a lot of study and dedication. And Hester's is very proud to be able to sponsor these scholarships for fourteen years. One of the two scholarships is awarded on merit, and one is awarded on financial need.
